Areas of Study

UT-GSBS student honored for research of life-threatening complication
HOUSTON - (Oct. 14, 2009) - Roxanna Irani, a M.D./Ph.D. student at The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston (GSBS), has received a $10,000 fellowship for her efforts to better understand a condition known as pre-eclampsia that threatens the lives of expectant women and their unborn children.

UT-GSBS alumnus honored for invention.
UT distinguished alumnus and medical device inventor John Simpson, Ph.D., M.D., shed light on rejection issues associated with organ transplantation in his 1971 doctoral dissertation at The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston.

Alumna receives two grants

GSBS Alumna Esther Guzman received two grants: State of Florida Bankhead Coley new investigator award and an NIH R03 Pilot Studies in Pancreatic Cancer grant for two years.  She is the principal investigator on both.
